Volunteers

Welcome Volunteers
WELCOME VOLUNTEERS!

We at Hilltop encourage all adults to be a part of our school!
Volunteers are key to the success of our programs. Whether inside the classroom, participating in a school event or working in the office, you can make a big difference in our school!

After Spring Break, pre-approved volunteers will be allowed to help out at school. Directions to get a Washington State Patrol Background check and how to show your proof of vaccination can be found here: Volunteer Info 03_2022

Once approved we will contact you about opportunities to help with arrival, Kinder/1st grade recess, library, book fair, STEAM Day, and Field Day. Some teachers will also be looking for volunteers to work in the classroom.

Book Fair VolunteersHelp collect funds brought to the office before school during the week of April 11th: 8:15-8:45 AM. Contact Librarian Deborah Fournier to volunteer at [email protected].

STEAM Day Volunteers- Help plan the day or present to class at Hilltop's annual STEAM Day. Help our students learn and get excited about Science-Technology-Engineering-Art- and - Math.

Please fill out this form to help with planning or to volunteer for the May 12th event.

Sixth Grade Parents- Email Kaleigh Kline if you'd like to help plan end-of-the year sixth grade events: [email protected]

Other ways to Volunteer in our district:

  1. Beautify our school. We miss our weeding parties! Come as a family unit or individual to weed. Make large weed piles in the planting areas and we will have the weed piles picked up.
  2. Please consider donating food or your time to Nourishing Network.  The Hilltop staff want to make sure that all students have the food they need in their household. Nourishing Network is a program of the Edmonds Schools Foundation that provides food weekly to families. Visit their site for more information.
  3. Support the PTSA. Fundraising will be impacted, and we rely on our PTSA to financially support our community events and enrichment materials for our classrooms. Please add Smile to your Amazon account, scan your receipts for Boxtop points, and find other ways to support our PTSA. Hilltop PTSA website

 COMMUNICATION IS KEY

More good volunteers have been lost because of poor communication than for any other reason. Please don’t let this happen to you! You are an important part of the educational team and are asked to cooperate with the school staff in the following ways:
· A school is a place of business. Please make a time commitment that is really workable for you.
· Please sign in and sign out, and wear your volunteer badge each time you come to school.
· Please discuss student problems only with the teacher with whom you are working.
· Please respect the confidentiality of anything you learn in the classroom. Children and their specific problems should not be discussed outside of school. Be professionally discreet. Never publicly discuss parents, children or professionals.
· Please communicate your concern if you find that your volunteer assignment is not working out. Talk it over with the teacher, the principal, or the office manager.
· Please realize that your relationship to school personnel requires respect and confidence.
· Please recognize that your volunteer contribution sets a fine example of an interested and informed citizen helping to improve the community.
